: Life Span of Digital Prints
There are many inkjet printers on the market that make printing your digital photos from home very convenient. There are some down sides to these printers however.
The photo glossy paper used by inkjet printers is rather expensive and ink cartridges are costly as well. The convenience of printing your own photos may be worth the expense to many digital camera owners. The longevity of these prints turns out to be the crux to home printing.
The average life span of prints made from inkjet printers is only a couple of years before noticeable color fade occurs. Exposing these images to sunlight will speed the fading further.
One way around this problem is to have your prints made from a commercial lab such as Cord Camera. The prints from Cord will last for about 75 years and are printed on photo quality paper. The cost for digital prints are 29¢ each which is less than the cost of home printing. All you need to do is walk into a Cord Camera store with either a memory card from your camera, floppy disc, zip, or CD. The Cord associate will burn your images to a CD and promptly return your media to you so there is no chance of losing your original image file.
